چکیده

It is a well accepted assumption that the transcription of DNA is done along a single strand (T o c c h in i-Va l e n t in e and cols.1, S p ie g e l m a n and H a y a s h i 2, M a r m u r 3 and T o h ä C. 4) and that the biosynthetic mRNA obtained is monoteonic and is read in a linear fashion during the process of translation. In order to have a good interaction with the ribosome and an easy reading of the message the mRNA should remain extended (O k a m o t o and T a k a n a m i5 ; K h o r a n a 6) . We assume that this state is due to a lack of complementary zones in the strand of mRNA. If the assumption is valid, we can imagine that the sequences of basis in the messenger is substantially limited by this restriction that excludes the existence of complementary zones.

Complementarity of sequences in low molecular weight RNAs to regions of messenger and ribosomal RNAs.

Total low molecular weight nuclear RNAs of mouse ascites cells have been labeled in vitro and used as probes to search for complementary sequences contained in nuclear or cytoplasmic RNA. From a subset of hybridizing lmw RNAs, two major species of 58,000 and 35,000 mol. wt. have been identified as mouse 5 and 5.8S ribosomal RNA. Mouse 5 and 5.8S rRNA hybridize not only to 18 and 28S rRNA, respe...

Evidence of direct complementary interactions between messenger RNAs and their cognate proteins

Recently, the ability to interact with messenger RNA (mRNA) has been reported for a number of known RNA-binding proteins, but surprisingly also for different proteins without recognizable RNA binding domains including several transcription factors and metabolic enzymes. Moreover, direct binding to cognate mRNAs has been detected for multiple proteins, thus creating a strong impetus to search fo...

Type I-E CRISPR-Cas Systems Discriminate Target from Non-Target DNA through Base Pairing-Independent PAM Recognition

Discriminating self and non-self is a universal requirement of immune systems. Adaptive immune systems in prokaryotes are centered around repetitive loci called CRISPRs (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat), into which invader DNA fragments are incorporated. CRISPR transcripts are processed into small RNAs that guide CRISPR-associated (Cas) proteins to invading nucleic acid...

Identification and characterization of conserved miRNAs with its targets mRNA in Trichinella Spiralis

microRNAs (Small regulatory non-coding RNAs) have an important role in gene regulation and evolutionarily conserved molecules. Trichinella spiralis infect majority of species. Therefore, it is of interest to identify conserved miRNAs and their targets using sequences from EST, GSS and full length nucleotides obtained from NCBI against previously reported worm miRNAs. We identify 11 novel miRNAs...

Cross-kingdom sequence similarities between human micro-RNAs and plant viruses

Micro-RNAs regulate the expression of cellular and tissue phenotypes at a post-transcriptional level through a complex process involving complementary interactions between micro-RNAs and messenger-RNAs. Similar nucleotide interactions have been shown to occur as cross-kingdom events; for example, between plant viruses and plant micro-RNAs and also between animal viruses and animal micro-RNAs. I...
